The Legendary David Feherty Talks About The Worst Caddy He Ever Had And LOLOLOLOLOL

$

0

“I hired him for entertainment value” isn’t something you’ll hear very many modern golfers say when discussing their caddies. But this is David Feherty we’re talking about here, and he came of age in a different era.

For most of my life, I’ve known David Feherty as the man in the booth, and not a professional golfer. He did, however, finish tied for 6th at the British Open in ’89, tied for 4th at the Open Championship in ’94, and tied for 7th at the PGA Championship in 1983. Feherty also had 5 wins on the European Tour. So he was one hell of a golfer, and not just a classy and hilarious voice in the booth.

David appeared on Fallon last night to talk about life, and the two quickly zeroed in on the topic of Feherty’s caddies as a point of conversation. Without any exaggeration, it sounds like David Feherty had the most dumpster fire caddy in history. The dude sounds like a complete f’n trainwreck, and it’s a miracle that Feherty every won any tournaments at all.

The TV world needs more people like David Feherty in the booth, and the golf world needs more caddies like David used to have to spice things up. That’s just my two cents.

A ‘Pro’ Golfer Shot 127 In U.S. Open Qualifier And I Don’t Know How The Fuck That Even Happens

us open qualifying

Shitting on people for playing poor golf is not my style. Every round can either be great, mediocre, or pure fucking shit. I have personally shot in the 70s, 80s, and 90s in the last year. And although the latter is usually not the case, when things go sideways, sometime they just keep on going.

That said, I don’t think I have ever even sniffed a score over 110 since I was like 10 years old. So I don’t know how this guy –his name Clifton McDonald — trying to qualify for a U.S. Open shot 127. That is beyond outrageous. To even enter to qualify a player is supposed to have a handicap under 3 or be declared as a professional. That means you shoot 85 on a really bad day and a 95 on the worst day of your life. That doesn’t mean you toss up a 55-over par day.

Look at this scorecard, which was tweeted by his playing partner Lee McCoy. For all you non-golf fans, McCoy is a legit professional golfer.

So how did Clifton McDonald, who is clearly not a 2.4 handicap, get in this qualifier?  Well, there is a loophole. If you declare yourself as a professional, you don’t need a handicap. You can just sign up and every assumes you are a professional. That is exactly what McDonald did, because his life motto is obviously “fake it till you make it.” Or at least until you embarrass yourself so badly that you have to go into hiding for a few months.

It is worth noting, that another “pro” who wasn’t declared on the scoreboard as an amateur shot 107. That is still 20 shots better than McDonald.

One final note, I would die to see the shot tracker of this round. Or maybe just holes 16 and 18 where he carded a 14 and an 11 respectively.

A Golfer Accidentally Kills A Flying Duck With A Tee Shot And The Cameraman Can’t Stop Laughing

I don’t know what the odds of this are, but damn, what a freak accident. Speaking of freaks, the cameraman is a little too excited that he got to witness a duck being murdered by a golf ball, isn’t he? Take it down a few notches, bro. Unless, of course, you would want someone laughing uncontrollably at your untimely death. Then by all means, yuck it up.

Golfers Spot Massive Gator Eating An Enormous Largemouth Bass On The Fairway

Depending on where you live in America you might actually see alligators every day, and this will be a very jarring site. Heck, I live in Southwest Florida and literally see alligators almost every day of my life (usually in the lake in my backyard), and seeing a gator this active is still very strange. When you see alligators in passing they’re typically just sitting on the bank of a pond/lake, soaking up the sun’s rays. It’s rare that you actually see them moving, and even more rare to see them feasting down like this.

This all went down over the weekend when David Mack, an employee of the Miami Dolphins, was cruising along a hole with a lake at Sandhill Crane Golf Club in Palm Beach Gardens when he and his father spotted this gigantic alligator eating a very sizable largemouth bass. Thankfully, he had the presence of mind to pull out his camera and film the action to share it with the world on Instagram:

It’s been quite a while since I saw a gator feeding. Those were some lucky golfers to catch an alligator that active…

Weird Rule Forces College Golfer To Go Into Pond After He Accidentally Dropped His Ball In The Water

$

The rules of golf clearly state that a player must finish the hole with the same ball to avoid a two-stroke penalty. There is no flexibility in that rule. If you, for some reason, lose your ball, you better find it or you better be ready to take that penalty.

Jacksonville University senior David Wicks learned that rule the hard way during the NCAA Regionals in Baton Rouge, LA. While Wicks was waiting his turn to attempt a three-foot par putt he accidentally dropped his ball into the water. WHOOPSIE! Rather than taking the two-stroke penalty, Wicks stripped down to his underwear and went fishing for his ball.

Here’s how it went down.

Here’s the video.

Former LSU player Smilyie Kaufman even chimed in.

You know, it’s stuff like this, and stuff like this alone, that is the only shit keeping me from playing professional golf. Absolutely nothing else holding me back. Just all this rules red tape keeping me from being a national hero.

Bros Ride Their Bikes 800 Miles In From Oregon To Cali, Playing 17 Golf Courses Along The Way

Often times when you see a story of someone taking the ‘trip of a lifetime’ or a ‘bucket list trip’ these adventures span months. You see these stories and wonder just how in the heck that person can afford to take so much time away from the real world. The thing I love the most about this story is it only took these bros 2.5 weeks to ride their bicycles 800+ miles from southern Oregon to California while stopping to play 17 of the country’s best golf courses along the way.

It certainly wasn’t easy. Lugging 80 pounds of gear on their backs as they averaged 70+ miles on the road each day between rounds of golf, but Pete Phipps and Luke Davis pulled off the golfing trip of a lifetime.

The two spoke with Josh Sens at Golf.com about their trip that has golf enthusiasts worldwide seething with jealousy.

The discussed the route they took, a trip they dubbed ‘Portland to Pebble’. Along the way, they hit three public courses in Northern California designed by Alister Mackenzie. If that name rings a bell it’s because he is the architect of Augusta National, home of The Masters. Alister also designed the world famous Cypress Point.

While breezing through Northern California these bros played Northwood in Sonoma County, Sharp Park just south of San Francisco, and Pasatiempo in the mountains surrounding Santa Cruz. The latter was a course so beloved by Alister Mackenzie that he reportedly kept a house on the 6th hole.

You can check out footage from the trip on LieAndLoft.com, the website created by Pete Phipps and Luke Davis which they used to catalog their adventure. They also have some badass drone footage of the trip:

The 800+ mile golfing bike adventure concluded in Monterey, California, home of the fabled Pebble Beach. However, the two opted to play ‘the poor man’s Pebble Beach’ in place of forking over the $495/round green’s fees for Pebble Beach. Instead, they played Pacific Grove (Golf Links) which also runs along the Pacific Coast and has a Links-style feel to the course.

You can read about the adventure these bros had over on Golf.com, and you can purchase some epic prints of the golf courses they played on their website LieAndLoft.com.

America’s golf championship, the U.S. Open, is right around the corner. And our bros at SwingJuice, makers of the best golf t-shirts around, have done it again. This time, they are hitting us with a U.S. Open-inspired t-shirt with none other than Roy Mother Fucking McAvoy on it. Golf’s most famous local qualifier.

If you’ve seen Tin Cup, you know this exact scene by heart. It’s where McAvoy drops one final ball and holes out from a billion yards away to card a TWELVE on his final hole. Sure he didn’t win the tournament, but he also didn’t play it safe. That’s why we love him.

P.S. I am so attached to this t-shirt because this image was my Twitter avatar for about three full years. Sorry I left you, Roy.

Gilbert Arenas Had The BEST Reaction To Tiger Woods’ Unusual Excuse For His DUI Arrest

Palm Beach County Sheriff

Leave it to “Agent Zero” Gilbert Arenas to always keep it real. Dude has no filter and his reaction to Tiger Woods’ excuse for getting popped for DUI is absolutely A+.

First, to set the stage for Arenas in case you haven’t seen it yet, here’s Tiger Woods’ statement regarding his DUI…

“I understand the severity of what I did and I take full responsibility for my actions.

“I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved. What happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications. I didn’t realize the mix of medications affected me so strongly.

“I would like to apologize with all my heart to my family, friends, and the fans. I expect more from myself, too.

“I will do everything in my power to ensure this never happens again.

I fully cooperated with law enforcement, and I would like to personally thank the representatives of the Jupiter Police Dept. and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office for their professionalism.”

“Fully cooperated” is apparently a relative term as TMZ reported the cops said Woods was acting “arrogant” at the time of his arrest.

Anyhoo, that’s his story and he’s sticking to it, even if many people, like Gilbert Arenas, aren’t exactly buying what Woods is selling.

“Just say you got drunk, you got fucked up like everyone else in America,” said Arenas when TMZ asked him about Woods. “Mixed medication, really??”

LOL Arenas.

Gilbert also added, “That’s the suckiest shit about being an athlete, you gotta lie.”

That, and being turned into an instant meme when you do something stupid.

New details have been revealed in the DUI arrest of Tiger Woods including that police found him asleep in his car before his arrest and that there was no alcohol detected.

According to the police report, Woods was in his black 2015 Mercedes-Benz which was stopped in the roadway in the right lane. The vehicle’s brake lights were illuminated and the right blinker was flashing.

Woods was in the driver’s seat and the only person in the car. He had his seatbelt on and had to be woken up by cops early Monday morning. The vehicle was still running when and Woods was sleeping before police arrested the infamous golfer on a DUI charge.

An officer said Woods “had extremely slow and slurred speech” and struggled with several roadside tasks.

“Woods stated that he did not know where he was,” according to the police report. “Woods had changed his story of where he was going and where he was coming from. Woods asked how far from his house he was.”

Woods accepted a Breathalyzer test and blew a 0.00.

The 14-time major champion proclaimed that alcohol was not a factor in his driving under the influence arrest in a statement that he released on Monday night:

“I understand the severity of what I did and I take full responsibility for my actions. I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved. What happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications. I didn’t realize the mix of medications had affected me so strongly. I fully cooperated with law enforcement, and I would like to personally thank the representatives of the Jupiter Police Dept. and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office for their professionalism. I would like to apologize with all my heart to my family, friends and the fans. I expect more from myself too. I will do everything in my power to ensure this never happens again.”

Woods was taken into custody at 2:49 a.m. on Monday, booked at 7:18 a.m., and released at 10:50 a.m.

Last week, Woods announced he had undergone a fourth back surgery in April that will sideline him for the rest of the 2017 season. He had his first back surgery on March 31, 2014.

From a 2010 report in the National Enquirer:

“Woods’ drugs of choice are said to be the sleep medication Ambien and painkiller Vicodin.

‘In [sex] therapy, Tiger blamed a lot of his cheating behavior on his drug addiction, saying that the drugs were responsible for impairing his judgment,’ an anonymous source told The National Enquirer.

The golfer’s lovers have said he enjoyed mixing Ambien and sex to heighten pleasure.”

Bill Burr And Joe Rogan Breaking Down Tiger Woods’ DUI Is The Best Discussion Of His Arrest Yet

Much like Gilbert Arenas on Tuesday, Bill Burr and Joe Rogan had unfiltered thoughts on Tiger Woods getting arrested for DUI. Hilarious, no bullshit thoughts.

Burr, for his part, echoed Arenas’ sentiments, “Eh, he should just take the hit. I was hangin’ with the fellas, blah, blah, blah…”

Then later in the discussion, Burr dropped this nail-on-the-head line about Woods, “It happens and if you fucked up and it’s your fault you should get punished, but like, the cops are handling it. They arrested him. The courts will handle it. Do I need to pile on and start wagging my fucking hypocritical finger at him?”

Good, honest stuff as always from these two. Check out the entire segment below.

John Daly Has Some Bro-therly Advice For Tiger Woods When It Comes To Getting Popped For DUI

Amazingly, even with all of his legendary partying over the years, somehow John Daly has never been arrested for DUI. However, Daly has found himself in an assortment of bad PR situations throughout his career. So who better to give Tiger Woods some advice, golf pro to golf pro, about how to handle his DUI arrest than John Daly?

First off, of course Daly his Tiger’s back in all of this, being beer buddies and all. Plus he knows all too well what it’s like to find yourself in the media spotlight for being on the wrong side of the law.

His advice to Woods should he find himself in a situation like the one that got him busted?

“Call a friend,” says Daly. “Call a friend. Call Uber. Call Carey Transportation. They’re the Tour’s, but so great with us. I mean, anybody can come pick you up, but Tiger probably didn’t think he was feeling that bad.”

As far his message to Tiger on how to move past all of this?

“Just get back on the golf course, man,” advises Daly. “This stuff will pass. It always does.”

Take it from one who should know, I suppose, right?

In Happier Woods Family News, Tiger’s Niece Cheyenne Just Made The LPGA US Open A Must-Watch

Tiger Woods may be having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad week, but at least someone in his family is doing well. And that someone would be his awesome niece and fellow professional golfer Cheyenne Woods.

You may remember seeing Cheyenne before on Golf Magazine’s 2017 “Most Beautiful Women In Golf” list. And if not, well, let’s get you up to speed on the 26-year-old LPGA star (hopefully) in the making.

Cheyenne is the daughter of Susan and Earl Woods, Jr., who is Tiger Woods’ half-brother. Just like Tiger, Earl Woods was also her very first golf coach. She won back-to-back Arizona State Championships in high school and won the ACC championship in 2011 while playing for Wake Forest. Cheyenne also has two professional wins, but none on the LPGA Tour so far.

Oh yeah, she also just qualified for the 2017 LPGA US Open (for the second time), as I may have mentioned so we’ll at least have one member of the Woods family to root for this summer.

Instagram Photo

“12 hours and 36 holes later… We did it!! US Women’s Open bound! #golfmarathon #uswomensopen #medalist,” Cheyenne captioned her happy photo on Tuesday.

Looks like we’ll have to mark the week of July 10th through the 16th on our calendars now, huh?

PGA Tour Pro Shares Video Of How Absolutely Brutal The Rough At 2017 U.S. Open Venue Will Be And WOW

$

The U.S. Open rarely disappoints, but of this video shared by Wesley Bryan is any indication of how difficult the conditions at Erin Hills will be for the 2017 U.S. Open then we are in for a doozy. The primary rough on the course is currently two-feet high. TWO. FEET.

The first thing I thought when I saw this was “Fuck, Phil isn’t going to complete the career grand slam this year.” If the rough remains at this level for the tournament, then hitting fairways is going to be a huge factor in determining the winner. One thing Phil Mickelson isn’t great at? Hitting fairways with the big stick…and, ya know, finishing better than second at the U.S. Open. He is really not great at either of those things.

As much as I want Phil to prevail, and I do, I also would not mind seeing an absolute massacre. That could make for some good TV come Sunday.

Here Is The Tiger Woods DUI Arrest Dashcam Video We’ve All Been Waiting For

Tiger Woods DUI arrest has taken the sports world by storm since early Monday morning. Details of his arrest have slowly trickled out. Save for how, or why, the 14-time major winner took a cocktail of the prescription drugs Soloxex, Torix, Vioxx, and Vicodin, we’ve learned almost everything there is to know about what happened at the scene that night. From Woods being asleep at the wheel to him having no alcohol in his system, we have everything but the the final piece of the puzzle: the police dashcam video from the arrest. And now we have that.

Where does Woods go from here? Who can say for sure. For someone who has spent a lot of time and effort trying to remove himself from the public eye, Woods has now had two very public and very embarrassing incidents occur in the last ten years. Couple that with his fourth back surgery and a cloud of questions as to why he is taking all these prescription drugs together just days after he said on his own website that, “I haven’t felt this good in years” and you could easily understand if he decided to remove himself even further from the public eye for the foreseeable future. Let’s hope that’s not the case. Let’s hope this was an accident and that he is feeling like the old Tiger again. But most of all, let’s just hope he’s going to be alright.

Pro Golfer Martin Kaymer Is Pissed Off That People Are Kicking Tiger Woods While He’s Down

Martin Kaymer Tiger Woods

Sometimes we forget that our heroes or sports superstars are also human beings. Human beings who are, oftentimes, far less perfect than we previously thought them to be. Tiger Woods is the perfect example of that. Before his 2009 cheating scandal, his life seemed perfect. He was the best player to ever touch a golf club, he had a beautiful wife and he was swimming in cash. So much cash. But since then, every single stumble or injury along the way has caused more and more scrutiny. It is as if people are getting off by seeing him suffer.

Yesterday, two-time major champion, Martin Kaymer sought to put an end to all the nastiness. He posted this two-minute video reminding people that Tiger, like all of us, is a real human being who has flaws and feelings. Maybe we forgot that along the way. Maybe his almost robotic approach to the media made people think he was made of stone. Or maybe we just live in a nasty fucking world where people get enjoyment from watching others suffer. What ever the case may be, Kaymer is right. Tiger Woods deserves far better than what fans and the golf media have been giving him.

What do you thing?

Tiger Woods’ Booking, Breathalyzer Video Has Been Released And It’s A Tough Watch

Jupiter Florida Police Department

Tiger Woods’ booking and breathalyzer video has been released by the Jupiter, Florida Police Department and Eldrick was definitely looking worse for wear.

Two and a half hours after the police nabbed him for DUI Tiger was still obviously very out of it. Almost as out of it as what we saw on the police dashcam video.

Then again, the video was taken at 4:30 AM on a Monday so I would have looked and acted like a freaking zombie too, struggling to keep my eyes open, drugs or no drugs. That being said, Tiger’s difficulty with the breathalyzer was almost comical as the police had to repeatedly tell him to suck on it, not blow into the tube.

Tiger did manage to crack a joke though about his glorious head of hair (at least according to ESPN). When asked to describe his hair color Tiger answered with, “mostly brown and fading and…brown.” Even the cops had to giggle a little at that one.

Poor Tiger, but as John Daly put it when giving his bro some advice, this too, as with everything in life, shall pass.

I still say Bill Burr and Joe Rogan had the best takes on this whole situation.
